I can honestly say that in order to run a successful building firm there are a few essential ingredients. The first is that in order to succeed you must have skin like a rhino and the other is that if you believe what a builder tells you, you need your head examined. All joking aside I became interested in building about 15 years ago when I bought and renovated my first house while working as an electrician. With a young family to support money was scarce and expectations where high (cue violins), we realised that in order to get on the property ladder we would need to undertake the work ourselves. It was at this stage that I first met Robert who lived in the same street. Since then we have renovated my second and current home which took two years while holding down two jobs in order to pay the bills. Even after this Robert withstood my attempts to recruit him. He eventually succumbed to my persuasive methods various bribes and skulduggery and Fortfield was born. When he came to work for me he set conditions and boundaries the results speak for them selves with many happy customers on our books.
Robert Hargrove (Project Manager) (the old school)
Robert brings quality control to Fortfield a term not normally associated with the building trade. Having served his time with McGlaghlin and Harvey's as a joiner, he frequently found himself working long hours to master skills that others may not achieve in a lifetime. Robert managed large construction projects for various firms over the years but was always driven by quality, finish and attention to detail which didn't always suit builders looking to finish early on a Friday.
He has a keen desire to see good working practices take place in a world that sometimes sacrifices quality for quantity. You can't pull the wool over this mans eyes. |
